Every journey has setbacks. There are times when the road ahead feels incredibly long. The month of February has been a little bit frustrating for me. We’ve been plagued by tons of snow (30 inches and counting) and have had several days with frigid temperatures. When your side income depends on getting out and about on the roads, winter weather can really wreak havoc on your paycheck.
I’ve felt guilty for staying home in bad weather (which I realize is silly) because I’m missing out on opportunities to make money and reach my goals. I’m also a pretty competitive person, so when I’ve had some weeks where I’ve made a lot of money, it’s hard to have weeks where I make little to nothing.
The hard part is staying focused. It would be easy to get discouraged and give up because I’m not getting to pay off as much as I’d hoped. My debt payoff chart (see here) isn’t getting colored in as quickly and it bugs me. I know I have to be patient, but patience is not usually one of my strong traits.
My goal is to have my next loan paid off before the end of the school year. Here’s hoping the weather cooperates in the next few weeks and I can get back on track! What do you do to keep yourself motivated when you encounter setbacks?
